Raymond Group Chairman and Managing Director Gautam Hari Singhania sustained minor injuries after a speedboat carrying tourists capsized near V Felidhoo in the Maldives early Friday morning, according to reports.
Singhania was among the passengers on board and has been successfully rescued. He is currently recovering in Mumbai under medical supervision, his spokesperson confirmed.
“Gautam Singhania suffered minor injuries following an unfortunate accident. He is recovering under due care in Mumbai,” the spokesperson said, while also expressing concern for others affected in the incident.
The accident has raised serious concerns as two Indian nationals, including rally driver Hari Singh, are reportedly missing. Search and rescue operations are currently underway.
Reports indicate that a total of seven people were on board the speedboat, including two women from the United Kingdom and Russia, and five men from India.
Citing local police, the report stated that five individuals were swept into the sea during the incident. This group included a woman from Russia and four Indian men.
Authorities continue to carry out search operations as efforts intensify to locate the missing individuals.
