Shubman Gill Smashes Not out double Hundred Against West Indies as India Complete Record Chase in Guwahati

Shubman Gill has delivered a sensational batting masterclass against West Indies, finishing unbeaten on 223 runs in the second ODI at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

Chasing a mammoth target of 406, Gill stayed at the crease throughout India's successful pursuit, converting his century into a remarkable double hundred before finishing on 223 not out.

The India captain's innings came at a stunning scoring rate and provided the foundation for India's record-breaking chase. Gill attacked the West Indies bowling throughout the innings, combining boundaries with aggressive running between the wickets.

Gill Joins Elite Double-Century Club

Gill's 217 not out adds another major milestone to his ODI career. He had already scored a century in the opening match of the three-game series, making his performance in Guwahati his second consecutive hundred.

Earlier in the innings, Gill reached his century from just 62 balls, hitting 10 fours and five sixes. According to the Indian Express, that hundred was the fastest ODI century by an Indian captain, surpassing Rohit Sharma's previous record.

Gill's double century also puts him in an exclusive Indian group. He becomes only the second Indian batter after Rohit Sharma to register multiple ODI double centuries, according to the Times of India.

India Face Huge 406-Run Target

West Indies had earlier posted 405/7, setting India one of their biggest-ever ODI chase targets. India responded with an aggressive batting display, with Gill leading the charge.

The second ODI is being played in Guwahati after India won the opening match of the three-match series. Gill had scored 110 in that first ODI, while Virat Kohli made an unbeaten 139.

Gill's unbeaten 223 therefore becomes the defining performance of the Guwahati match, as the India captain combined a landmark individual score with a huge successful chase.
