England Seamers Rip Through Pakistan for 110 to Take 180-Run Lead at Lord’s Test

England’s seamers delivered a devastating spell at Lord’s on Friday, dismissing Pakistan for just 110 in 37.2 overs and giving the hosts a substantial 180-run first-innings advantage.

England had earlier been bowled out for 290 during the morning session. Their four-pronged pace attack then dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup, putting England in a strong position to finish the second day with another opportunity to bat.

Robinson Leads England’s Pace Attack

Ollie Robinson was the standout bowler for England, claiming 4 wickets for just 11 runs from 13 overs. He also bowled six maiden overs as Pakistan struggled to score against the disciplined English attack.

Jofra Archer took 3-26 from 11.2 overs, while Josh Tongue claimed two wickets. Gus Atkinson went wicketless despite bowling a sustained spell.

The England bowlers consistently applied pressure, making it difficult for Pakistan’s batters to build partnerships.

Azan Awais Resists England’s Attack

Pakistan’s only significant resistance came from debutant opener Azan Awais.

After scoring 0 and 9 in Pakistan’s first-Test defeat in Leeds, Awais showed considerable determination at Lord’s. He faced 102 deliveries and scored 46 before being dismissed while attempting a pull shot.

His innings accounted for a large portion of Pakistan’s total. The next-highest contribution from the Pakistan batting lineup was only 16 runs, while extras contributed 20.

Awais was the second-last Pakistan batter dismissed, with the score at 106-8.

Pakistan were also effectively playing with nine batters because opener Imam-ul-Haq was unable to bat after suffering a low-grade left calf injury while fielding on Thursday.

Pakistan Lose Key Wickets

Pakistan’s troubles began before lunch when Abdullah Shafique, one of their most in-form batters, was dismissed with the score at 16-2 after 14.1 overs.

Captain Babar Azam returned to the side after missing the first Test because of a finger injury. He initially looked positive, hitting two boundaries through the covers, but his stay was short-lived.

Babar edged Josh Tongue to third slip and departed after making a brief contribution.

Saud Shakeel was the only Pakistan batter other than Awais to reach double figures. He scored 16 from 16 balls before Robinson trapped him lbw.

After a 30-minute rain interruption, Mohammad Rizwan was also dismissed leg before wicket by Robinson.

England Complete Pakistan Collapse

Pakistan’s wickets continued to fall rapidly.

Ali Usman was bowled by Jofra Archer after playing the ball onto his own stumps. Khurram Shahzad then edged Robinson to second slip, bringing Pakistan closer to being bowled out.

Awais eventually departed after his determined resistance ended, leaving Pakistan with little chance of recovering.

Archer was denied another wicket when Joe Root dropped Mohammad Ali at leg slip. However, Archer soon completed the innings by bowling Mohammad Abbas, ending Pakistan’s innings at 110.

England’s 180-run lead puts them firmly in control of the Test, with their formidable seam attack having created a major advantage for the hosts at Lord’s.
