CSK to Discuss Playing XI Leak Allegations at AGM, Says ‘Appropriate Measures’ Will Follow

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is set to discuss recent allegations surrounding the alleged leak of its playing XIs to bookmakers during the 2025 Indian Premier League at the franchise's Annual General Meeting on September 25.

According to reports citing Cricbuzz, CSK has said it maintains a zero-tolerance approach towards corruption and will take “appropriate measures” if wrongdoing is established. The development follows allegations made in a Tehelka undercover investigation involving former Ranji Trophy player Rachit Bhatia.

What the Tehelka investigation alleges

According to the investigation, Bhatia claimed that he had obtained CSK's playing XI information before official announcements during five IPL 2025 matches through a Delhi-based player.

Bhatia allegedly told an undercover reporter that the information was passed to London-based bookmakers through Snapchat and that he received around ₹60 lakh per match, amounting to approximately ₹3 crore across five matches. Tehelka published footage and transcripts of the conversations supporting its report.

The report also alleged that Bhatia had discussed obtaining advance team information for IPL 2026. However, he later claimed that the player involved was unavailable because of an injury.

Importantly, the allegations concerning CSK, the unnamed player and the five IPL matches have not been independently verified, and no conclusion of wrongdoing has been established against the franchise or any specific CSK player based solely on the sting report.

Vansh Bedi denies connection

The allegations also triggered speculation on social media after former CSK player Vansh Bedi was mentioned in online discussions. Bedi was part of CSK in 2025 but was ruled out during the season because of an ankle injury.

Bedi has denied any connection to the allegations. His name has not been identified in the Tehelka report as the alleged CSK player.

The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has separately said that reports concerning alleged irregularities in the Delhi Premier League remain unverified. The association confirmed that one of its players had reported being approached in connection with corruption and that the matter was communicated to the BCCI.

CSK's previous corruption controversy

The latest allegations have also brought renewed attention to CSK's earlier disciplinary history.

The franchise was suspended from the IPL for the 2016 and 2017 seasons following the 2013 betting scandal. Team official Gurunath Meiyappan was found guilty of betting-related violations during the 2013 tournament.

The current allegations, however, concern a different set of claims and should not be treated as established findings without an official investigation.

CSK's September 25 AGM is therefore expected to provide an important indication of how the franchise intends to respond to the latest allegations and whether any further action will be sought through the appropriate cricketing authorities.
