Iran has dismissed claims by Donald Trump that negotiations are underway between Washington and Tehran, calling the statements “fake news” amid intensifying regional tensions.
Trump recently stated that discussions with Iran were in progress to explore the possibility of a broader agreement, suggesting that Tehran was willing to move toward peace. He added that Iran was “serious this time” and interested in reaching a settlement.
However, Iranian officials have firmly rejected these assertions. Tehran’s parliamentary speaker denied that any such talks are taking place, accusing the United States of spreading misinformation to influence global financial and oil markets.
The conflicting statements come as the situation on the ground continues to escalate. According to United States Central Command, American forces are still actively conducting strikes on targets inside Iran.
At the same time, Iran has continued its military response, launching missiles and drones toward several Gulf nations, including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, raising concerns of a broader regional conflict.
Market reactions have also been significant. Oil prices reportedly dropped by around 11% following Trump’s announcement of a temporary delay in planned attacks on Iran’s power infrastructure, which he linked to the possibility of ongoing diplomatic engagement.
Despite the rhetoric around potential negotiations, ongoing military activity on both sides suggests that tensions remain high, with no immediate signs of de-escalation.
Authorities and analysts continue to monitor developments closely, as the situation remains fluid and unpredictable.
